Musical Tribute to Louis Couperin
The music academy of the city of Kassel invites you to a French evening dedicated to the 400th birthday of Louis Couperin. The focus is on a composer whose name is closely associated with the history of French music. The program combines works by Louis Couperin with compositions by his famous namesake François Couperin as well as music from Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.
The evening offers a concentrated insight into the French music tradition and presents three significant personalities together. Louis and François Couperin represent different generations of a formative composer family. The program is complemented by works from Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, who is also among the important French composers of her time.
Works by Three Formative Voices
The selection makes the evening a musical encounter with compositions from the French Baroque. The central focus is the round birthday of Louis Couperin, whose works are performed alongside those of François Couperin. The inclusion of Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre broadens the perspective on the musical environment and the diversity of the French repertoire.
Visitors can look forward to a thematically focused program that relates the three mentioned composers to each other. The music academy of the city of Kassel thus creates an opportunity to experience well-known and lesser-known works from the history of French music in a shared evening.
The French Evening will take place on November 24, 2026, in Kassel. Information about start times, ticket prices, and other organizational details is not included in this event information. For current updates, it is recommended to visit the specified website of the music academy of the city of Kassel.
