In Motion. Harry Kramer, Kassel and the documenta

31.10.2025 - 08.03.2026On January 25, 2025, Harry Kramer would have turned 100 years old. On this occasion, the documenta archive and the Museum of Sepulchral Culture, in cooperation with Hessen Kassel Heritage and the city of Kassel, are dedicating a large exhibition to him. The exhibition "In Motion. Harry Kramer, Kassel and the documenta" showcases kinetic sculptures, films, photographs, and graphics from all creative phases of the versatile artist. As a documenta participant and initiator of the artist necropolis, Kramer significantly influenced the art scene in Kassel. His works, straddling the line between visual and performing arts – from early experiments to the famous wire sculptures – made him internationally renowned. The presentation brings together works and documents from Kassel collections as well as selected loans.
