Landruf(t) at the Fulda Riverbank: Art in the open air that changes perception
With Landruf(t), the rest area Alex Ruh in Baunatal/Guntershausen transforms into an extraordinary open-air gallery. From June 21 to July 19, 2026, there, nature- and site-specific artworks meet wind, weather, and the expansive landscape along the Fulda River.
Art in dialogue with nature and movement
The exhibition consciously aims for an open, vibrant event experience. The works are not static but evolve over the course of the weeks. This is precisely the attraction: The audience experiences an art format that intertwines landscape, material, and time, making the constant change of every material visible.
A unique place for exhibition and encounter
Alex Ruh is located directly along the R1 and by the banks of the Fulda in Guntershausen. This location creates a special event atmosphere between river, meadow, and art objects. Visitors discover the exhibits outdoors and around the clock, embedded in the Northern Hesse river landscape and close to the Baunatal-Guntershausen train station.
Community, cooperation, and cultural networking
The project is organized by KulturNetz Kassel in cooperation with the city of Baunatal. Seven artists as well as students from the Theodor-Heuss-Schule are involved. The exhibition is supplemented by workshops during the runtime and by the opening celebration with choral singing and catering by local clubs.
What visitors can expect
Landruf(t) combines art, landscape, and regional involvement into a calm, yet inspiring excursion. Those seeking contemporary art outdoors, site-specific installations, and an atmospheric exhibition space will experience a strong interplay of creativity and nature here. A visit is especially worthwhile for those who want to not only look at art but experience it in space and in movement.
Experience Landruf(t) live at the Fulda Riverbank and discover how art in the open air is retold with every gust of wind.
