Landruf(t): When art, landscape, and change converge at the Fulda River
At the rest area Alex’s Rest in Baunatal-Guntershausen, Landruf(t) creates an extraordinary open-air exhibition that showcases art not in a protected indoor space, but right in the landscape. For four weeks, nature- and site-specific works will interact with wind, weather, and the light of the Fulda. Thus, a walk becomes an artistic experience with intense aesthetic engagement.
An exhibition space that becomes a work itself
The adjacent meadow by the Fulda River transforms into an open art space, where sculptures, installations, and artistic objects engage in direct dialogue with their surroundings. The works are intentionally exposed to natural influences and continue to change over the course of the exhibition. This is the special power of this curation: Every observation of a work becomes a confrontation with transience, materiality, and transformation.
Nature as a co-actor of art
Barbara Wokurka from KulturNetz Kassel describes the project as a place where new relationships with the landscape, natural conditions, and human influences become visible. The exhibition makes this thought immediately perceptible. Color, surface, form, and structure respond to the climate, rain, wind, and sun. From a static presentation, a living process emerges that impressively connects contemporary art, LandArt, and site-specific art.
Seven artists, many perspectives
Participating are Iris Hoffmann, Wilburg Kleff, Kordula Klose, Axel Kretschmer, Miriam Leitner, Lippold von Steimker, and Barbara Wokurka. The exhibition is complemented by works from students of Theodor-Heuss-Schule under the guidance of Judit Rozsas. This opens the project to cultural education and museum pedagogical experiences in public space. Art is not only observed here but experienced in exchange between generations and perspectives.
Community, music, and workshops
The cooperation of KulturNetz Kassel, the city of Baunatal, and the LOK Association Guntershausen provides a strong regional anchoring for the project. At the opening, contributions from the Wohnzimmerchor Guntershausen and the children's choir of Rengershausen Elementary School will fill the air, while local clubs take care of refreshments. During the exhibition, workshops and participatory offers will enhance the program and invite visitors to not only see art but also to become creatively engaged.
A visit that stays
Landruf(t) shows how powerful art can be in the open: open, changeable, sensual, and close to the landscape. Those who engage in this artistic experience will discover the Fulda not only as a natural space but also as a resonant space for contemporary art. A visit is worthwhile for all who wish to combine exhibition, nature observation, and cultural education in a special atmosphere.
