Rembrandt 1632. The Birth of a Brand

The special exhibition at Wilhelmshöhe Palace focuses on Rembrandt's key year 1632 – the year of his move from Leiden to Amsterdam. There he began his regional success: He worked in the workshop of Hendrick van Uylenburgh, gained new clients, and consciously developed a recognizable artistic profile. He signed for the first time with 'Rembrandt' – the beginning of his own brand. The exhibition features paintings, preliminary studies, variations, and workshop copies that make visible Rembrandt's stylistic development and his working processes. International loans from Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Stockholm, and Vienna complement the Kassel collection and provide a comprehensive view of this decisive year.
