Rembrandt 1632. The Birth of a Brand

The special exhibition at Schloss Wilhelmshöhe focuses on Rembrandt's pivotal year 1632 – the year he moved from Leiden to Amsterdam. There, his national success began: He worked in the workshop of Hendrick van Uylenburgh, gained new clients, and consciously developed a recognizable artistic profile. He signed for the first time with "Rembrandt" – the beginning of his own brand. The exhibition displays paintings, preparatory studies, variants, and workshop copies that reveal Rembrandt's stylistic development and his working processes. International loans from Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Stockholm, and Vienna complement the Kassel collection and provide a comprehensive view of this crucial year.
