Where the Music Plays

Until August 16, 2026In Kassel, numerous concert venues have shaped musical life over the past 200 years – from established theaters to tents and unusual performance spaces like ships. Some events even made headlines and caused uproar. The current special exhibition at the Spohr Museum brings this concert history back to life. Citizens of Kassel have contributed posters, photos, and memorabilia for this. The museum at Palais Bellevue not only showcases the life and work of composer and conductor Louis Spohr, but intertwines historical themes with modern formats and activities for families. A variety of exhibits can be seen – from instruments to personal everyday items.
