Breathe life into your own animated films
How does a character move on the screen? In the StopMotion Workshop at the Children's & Youth Film Festival 2026, children in Kassel discover the fascinating world of animation and create their own little film adventures. Together, they create moving images that will be admired on the big screen.
Film fun with your own ideas
From favorite characters to invented adventures: The children bring characters to life step by step and experience how individual images come together to create an animated film. Here, imagination, keen observation, and creative design combine to create a unique learning experience.
Age-appropriate creativity
The workshop is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years. No prior knowledge is required. The two-hour event provides a child-friendly introduction to stop-motion technique and playfully enhances creativity, concentration, media literacy, and teamwork.
Expert workshop leadership
The workshop is led by Paula Berger from Kassel. She studied Visual Communication at the Art Academy and works in the field of film and graphics. Her professional experience provides a suitable framework for curious young filmmakers.
Joint cinema experience
A special highlight awaits at the end: The created animated films will be viewed together on the big screen. Children immediately experience how their ideas become a visible family event - filled with wonder, children's laughter, and pride in their own work.
Conclusion: The StopMotion Workshop combines creative media education, fun learning, and shared time. Families experience how children develop and realize their own stories cinematically. For young film fans aged 6 to 12, this workshop offers a varied opportunity to actively participate and discover the results directly in the cinema.
