Blood and Plasma Donation Kassel | Appointment & Parking

The Blood and Plasma Donation Kassel Octapharma Plasma GmbH located at Untere Königsstraße 86 is a centrally located donation center for people who wish to donate blood or plasma in Kassel. According to the official site, the location is 500 meters from the city center directly at HoPla, making it particularly convenient for short distances, spontaneous visits, and regular appointments. With 8 blood donation spots and 30 plasma donation spots, the center is one of the larger facilities in the region; it also offers bike racks, free Wi-Fi, as well as magazines and drinks for on-site stays. Octapharma emphasizes nationwide that blood and plasma cannot be artificially produced and that donations are vital in medical therapies. This is precisely why the Kassel location combines medical relevance with everyday accessibility. Those planning an appointment should check the current donor acceptance times and notes for the first donation in advance, as the process is designed for safety, individual assessment, and a smooth visit. Opening Hours and Appointment Scheduling for Blood and Plasma Donation in Kassel

The most important practical questions usually revolve around opening hours and appointment scheduling. The location page currently lists the donor acceptance times with changing time slots; additionally, Octapharma points out that an appointment should be made for whole blood donation and the first plasma donation. First-time blood donors should plan for more time, as the initial visit can take up to 2 hours due to education and preparation. This is not a disadvantage, but part of the quality and safety concept: Before each donation, it is clearly explained what happens, how the check proceeds, and how donors can prepare well. For recurring visits, the spenduru app is a quick option to schedule appointments. Especially in a center like Kassel, which is in high demand, it is advisable to check the current site early, as the published time slots can change from week to week. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/?utm_source=openai))

For plasma donation, there is also a special process: during the first visit, a plasma donation is not yet possible. Instead, a blood donation or blood sample is first taken at this appointment, with which one is provisionally qualified for the plasma donation; a few days later, the first actual plasma donation can follow. This two-step start is important so that the team can safely assess eligibility. Therefore, newcomers should not only bring the appointment but also time for registration, education, health check, and any questions. For many visitors, this is a reassuring point, as the location does not operate on the principle of 'quick in and out', but rather follows a clear medical logic. This also aligns with Octapharma's general approach: Before each donation, current health is checked, and the final decision always lies with the doctor on site. Access, Parking, and Location at Holländischer Platz

The location is one of the biggest advantages of the site. The address Untere Königsstraße 86 is only about 500 meters from the city center and directly at HoPla. According to the official site, the blood and plasma donation center is located opposite the Holländischer Platz/Universität stop. The tram connection is very convenient, with lines 1, 5, RT4, and RT1 as well as bus lines 100 and 52 mentioned. Those coming from downtown Kassel can quickly reach the center on foot or via public transport without complicated detours. For search queries like 'Directions Kassel' or 'Blood Donation Kassel', this central location is a decisive reason why the site is so easily found. This is also practical for regular donors, as short distances help integrate a donation more easily into daily life. The center thus combines medical infrastructure with urban accessibility. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/))

Even by car, the location is surprisingly practical. Octapharma mentions 6 free parking spaces behind the center, and there are also bike racks directly on site. This is a real advantage for a center in the city center, as the visit does not start with a long search for parking. Those arriving by bike can also plan their visit easily; those driving will find at least a small, free solution directly at the location. Especially for a blood and plasma donation center, this mix of car, bike, and public transport is important, as donation visits rarely occur only once. Many people return regularly, and any form of convenient access lowers the barrier. The combination of a central location, proximity to the stop, and free parking spaces makes Kassel a location that is not more complicated in everyday life than necessary. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/))

Donation Spots, Equipment, and Comfort On-Site

Inside, the center focuses on simple but very helpful comfort details. According to the official location page, there are 8 blood donation spots and 30 plasma donation spots available. Additionally, there is free Wi-Fi, magazines, and drinks as well as bike racks on site. This may sound unremarkable, but in practice, it is exactly what makes donation visits pleasant: You arrive, wait in a calm environment, have something to drink, can read or handle something online briefly, and have enough space to keep the process organized. For visitors coming for the first time, this creates orientation; for returnees, it quickly becomes a reliable routine. Especially for plasma donation, which usually takes more time in the center than a short everyday visit, such infrastructure is a real plus. The equipment shows that the location is not intended as a mere drop-off point, but as a medically organized and as pleasant a place as possible to stay. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/))

Another important point is the integration of the location into the larger Octapharma network. The Kassel center was opened in 2006 and is part of the nationwide donation centers of Octapharma Plasma GmbH. On the company page, Octapharma Plasma is described as an important component of blood and plasma donation in Germany; the company operates 21 donation centers nationwide. For the Kassel location, this means: It is locally anchored but part of a larger medical structure with clear processes, standards, and experiences from many other centers. This is particularly relevant when it comes to safety, quality, and recurring processes. Therefore, those donating in Kassel do not experience an improvised standalone site, but a location that is embedded in a stable system. This also explains why the location has held a fixed role in the city for years and has become a regular point of contact for many people from Kassel and the surrounding area. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/))

Who Can Donate Blood or Plasma in Kassel

Anyone wishing to donate blood or plasma should know the basic requirements before booking an appointment. Octapharma states that for blood donation, the minimum age is 18 years, a permanent residence in Germany is required, a valid photo ID, and the ability to communicate in German both in writing and orally. Additionally, a minimum weight of 50 kilograms is required. These points are not a formality but part of the medical safety concept. Before each donation, a free health check is conducted, taking into account pulse, blood pressure, temperature, weight, and the individual questionnaire. It is also important: the final decision is always made by the doctor on site. This is reassuring for donors, as not an automated rule decides, but a medical assessment based on the current situation. Thus, the Kassel location becomes a place where donation is not assessed generically, but responsibly. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/blutspende))

The preparation for the appointment is also clearly described and can be easily integrated into daily life. Before the donation, one should have drunk enough, with Octapharma recommending about 1.5 to 2 liters in the last 24 hours, and one should have eaten something on the same day, ideally not appearing on an empty stomach and going to the bathroom beforehand. For blood donation, it is also important: no alcohol on the day of donation, and if a cold is present, it is better to wait until one is fit again. Those taking medication, have a chronic illness, or are uncertain after traveling, vaccinations, tattoos, or piercings should have their eligibility checked individually. The doctor then decides on a case-by-case basis. This clear preparation makes the difference between a stressful and a smooth donation, especially at a location that offers both blood and plasma donation. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/terminvereinbarung/))

Blood and Plasma Donation: Rhythm, Rules, and Particularities

There is an important difference in rhythm between blood and plasma donation. Plasma may be donated up to 60 times a year in Germany, with a minimum interval of two days between two plasma donations. For whole blood donation, significantly longer breaks apply: men can donate up to 6 times a year, women up to 4 times, and there must be at least 56 days or 8 weeks between two whole blood donations. These rules are not arbitrary but are intended to protect the body and circulation while ensuring reliable supply. In practice, this means: Those who donate regularly in Kassel should know their own rhythm and plan appointments wisely. Many people combine the good cause with a fixed routine, such as donating plasma every few weeks or blood several times a year. The location helps because the processes are clear and medically supervised. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/plasma-spenden))

When it comes to exclusion and waiting times, a closer look is worthwhile, as questions often arise here. For blood donation, there is a four-month pause after a tattoo, while Octapharma states a waiting period of 6 months for plasma donation after tattoos, touch-ups, piercings, or ear piercing. Anyone who has been in a malaria area in the last 6 months must also wait for blood donation; a plasma donation may still be possible in individual cases. Also, after flu vaccinations or other vaccinations, waiting times apply depending on the situation, which will be discussed on-site. This is not an obstacle but an expression of a very clean safety approach. Especially because blood and plasma are intended for patients, nothing is left to chance. Those who are uncertain can use the donor check or ask directly at the center before the appointment. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/plasma-spenden))

Why Octapharma Kassel is Important for Medical Care

Why is all this worthwhile? Because life-saving medications are derived from blood plasma that people with immune system disorders, blood clotting disorders, or wound healing problems need. Octapharma describes on the company page that the company develops and produces medications based on human proteins from human cell lines and human plasma. It is also explained on the plasma page that plasma products are used in cases of severe burns or significant blood loss. This is precisely why plasma is not an abstract resource but a medical raw material that plays a concrete role in many therapies. Blood remains vital as well, for example, after accidents, in cancer diseases, major surgeries, or heart diseases. Therefore, those donating in Kassel are not only supporting a regional facility but are part of a chain that directly impacts the care of severely ill people. ([octapharma.de](https://www.octapharma.de/ueber-uns/standorte/plasmaspendezentren))

Additionally, Octapharma compensates the time spent for blood and plasma donations with an expense allowance, the conditions of which are regulated by law. For blood donation, there is a uniform compensation, while for plasma donation, the amount depends on the quantity of plasma donated; additionally, bonus programs may play a role. This does not change the ideal core of the donation but makes the visit more practical for many people. In Kassel, several advantages come together: central location, good accessibility, modern equipment, clear medical processes, and a tangible benefit for patients. Those who donate regularly benefit from a reliable structure; those coming for the first time find a location designed for safety and good orientation. This is what makes the Blood and Plasma Donation Kassel Octapharma Plasma GmbH a strong address for people who want to help and are looking for an uncomplicated point of contact. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/aufwandsentschaedigung/))

How to Plan Your Visit Stress-Free

If you want to make your visit to Kassel as relaxed as possible, you should not only book the appointment but also think about the process from the beginning. It is best to check the current location page shortly before leaving, as the donor acceptance times there can change from week to week. When coming to the appointment, you should have a valid ID with you, have eaten and drunk enough, and not consumed alcohol on the same day. Especially for the first blood donation or the first appointment at the center, it is advisable to arrive a few minutes early so that registration, questionnaire, and health check can proceed without haste. The official site clearly states that the first blood donation visit can take up to 2 hours; in return, you have a well-structured, medically supervised process that prioritizes safety over speed. ([octapharmaplasma.de](https://www.octapharmaplasma.de/standorte/kassel/?utm_source=openai))

For regular donors, the routine is often even simpler. The spenduru app can speed up appointment arrangements, and those who have been to one of the centers before know the process and the necessary documents. For the first plasma donation, it is important to know that the first visit is initially only for qualification; the actual plasma donation starts a few days later. If uncertain after tattoos, piercings, travel, or vaccinations, it is better to wait briefly or ask in advance. This way, an appointment in Untere Königsstraße becomes a manageable part of daily life that can be easily integrated into work, studies, or family life. This is where the strength of this location lies: the paths are short, the instructions are clear, and the medical process is understandable. I was there for the first time today and was really impressed. All processes are digital and very efficiently designed, and even as a first-time donor, there’s almost no waiting time. This is a clear bonus point compared to other donation centers. Moreover, everyone I met there (which was quite a few) was exceptionally friendly. I left in a really good mood. On top of that, I got detailed information easily upon request, even though the job in the donation hall is surely stressful. An all-around positive experience :)

I went back to donate blood after 10 years. The online appointment scheduling worked wonderfully. A lot has changed over the years (visually/spatially). It’s very clean, tidy, and nicely designed. With coffee, lockers, etc. I find the two women at the reception so nice. Very warm, funny, friendly, and uncomplicated. They use first names, which I find really charming. The questionnaire is filled out digitally, and if needed, you can discuss any uncertainties with the doctor. In my case, it was a very friendly doctor. After that, you go up to the donation hall. The women there are also very cheerful and sweet. The blood draw or needle insertion = technically top-notch. You are really well taken care of, and all in all, I wasn’t even there for an hour due to the good process. I’ve already booked my next appointment for plasma donation :)

I really can’t understand the negative comments; we were there for the first time today and felt well taken care of every second. I didn’t feel well after the donation and immediately got a cola and glucose. We will definitely come back ☺️

I have now been to the blood donation center twice and initially had some concerns due to the reviews, but I must say that much of it is not true. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel like you’re in good hands. Everyone is super nice; one laughs with you, another helps you ease your fears, and there’s also a really sweet and nice employee who makes you feel comfortable right away. (Everyone is unbelievably friendly) I will definitely go back! It’s normal to feel dizzy after the first blood donation, and that has nothing to do with the staff. I particularly liked how one employee opened the door for the patients and created such a friendly atmosphere; they really pay attention to everything. So, if you’re thinking about donating blood, I can only recommend it! S.
