Messe Kassel | Opening Hours & Hall Plan 2026

The Messe Kassel is one of the most well-known trade fair and event centers in Northern Hesse and has been connecting economic, cultural, and sporting formats at one location for decades. The site is located at Damaschkestraße 55 in Kassel, is family-run, and has been used for trade fairs and exhibitions since 1961. Today, the facility includes 13 halls, around 30,000 m² of exhibition space, and an offering that ranges from public fairs to trade fairs, concerts, sports events, and corporate events. For visitors, the location is particularly convenient because Messe Kassel is easily accessible by car, train, and bus, and offers 3,000 free parking spaces and bicycle parking on site. Therefore, those searching for Messe Kassel today, Messe Kassel 2026, hall plan, parking, or events will find here not a single standard location, but a versatile exhibition area with different room sizes and clear strengths for large and small formats. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/messe-kassel/))

The special effect of Messe Kassel arises from the mix of tradition, functionality, and proximity to everyday life. On one hand, the location has a long history with several construction and expansion phases; on the other hand, the site is technically modern today and designed for changing event formats. The halls are optimized for short distances, many areas are combinable, and the Rothenbach Hall, as the central multifunctional hall, sets a clear accent with its size. This makes Messe Kassel interesting not only for visitors looking for a specific event but also for organizers who need a flexible location with a robust infrastructure. Particularly in the interplay of central location in Germany, direct transport connections, and a wide range of events, Messe Kassel is a site that becomes particularly relevant in search queries for dates, hall plans, exhibitor directories, or public transport access. Current Dates, Opening Hours, and Events at Messe Kassel

Those searching for Messe Kassel today or Messe Kassel opening hours should first know that there is no uniform daily opening like in a museum. The times depend on the respective event, and that is precisely why the event overview is the most important point of contact for visitors. There, the specific dates and times of fairs, sports events, flea markets, and special formats are listed. For 2026, among other things, the spring exhibition from February 28 to March 8 with opening hours from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, several handball games of MT Melsungen in the Rothenbach Hall, flea markets with visitor hours from about 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the autumn exhibition from October 3 to 11 with opening hours from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM are included. Additional formats such as girls' flea market, children's bazaar, Historica, Parts & Service World, and ETX are also coming. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/besucher/?utm_source=openai))

This variety shows why search terms like Messe Kassel dates 2026, Messe Kassel events, or Messe Kassel flea market are used so frequently. The Messe Kassel website lists not only individual highlights but also recurring formats like flea markets that regularly appear in the calendar, as well as consumer fairs and major sporting events. Particularly notable is that Messe Kassel clearly positions its own consumer fairs, namely the spring exhibition and autumn exhibition, as central attractions for the public. The spring exhibition 2026 is themed around new trends in household, fashion, and home and offers a special exhibition; the autumn exhibition 2026 will also follow with the same focuses and seasonal theme weekends. Therefore, those currently planning should not only rely on a search term like today or opening hours but always check the specific event, as the times can vary significantly by date. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/besucher/?utm_source=openai))

Also regarding the exhibitor directory, Messe Kassel is transparent. On the exhibitor page, the company explicitly refers to its own consumer fairs and warns against confusion with foreign trade fair databases like expo guide, which are not connected to Messe Kassel GmbH. This is important for search queries like Messe Kassel exhibitor directory 2026 because visitors and exhibitors can directly reach the right information source. Instead of a generic directory, Messe Kassel relies on its own exhibitor and download areas as well as the respective event pages. In practice, this means: Those looking for tickets, exhibitor information, hall occupancy, or daily times should always check the official event, as reliable data for visitors and exhibitors are published there. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/aussteller/?utm_source=openai))

Access, Parking, and Barrier-Free Visit at the Exhibition Grounds

Messe Kassel scores particularly well in terms of access. Thanks to its location, the site is easily accessible by car, ICE, and even airplane. On the access page, the fair describes the connection to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe as convenient and mentions travel times of under four hours from many German cities. For train travelers, the direct route with bus 12 from the ICE train station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe to the Messehallen stop is particularly practical. The bus runs every 30 minutes and the journey takes about 20 minutes. From the main train station, the connection is also clearly described: With RT5, it goes to Auestadion and from there with bus 12 to the fair. For many visitors, this combination of proximity to the city and public accessibility is a significant advantage over other exhibition sites. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/anreise/))

Drivers also benefit from very uncomplicated access. Messe Kassel emphasizes its good motorway connection and the total of 3,000 free parking spaces directly on site. This is particularly a strong argument for large public fairs, flea markets, or sports events, as long walks and additional parking fees are eliminated. Additionally, there are sufficient bicycle parking spaces available in front of the site, making environmentally friendly arrivals easy. The event overview and the access page also highlight that the site is barrier-free, making the visit significantly more pleasant for people with mobility restrictions. Especially at heavily frequented events, this is a practical plus point that makes Messe Kassel appear particularly suitable for everyday use. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/anreise/))

For search queries like Messe Kassel access, Messe Kassel parking, or Messe Kassel today opening hours, this infrastructure is crucial. Visitors can plan relatively flexibly because several access routes are open and the paths on the site itself remain short. Those arriving by train have an important long-distance transport connection with Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, and those arriving by car benefit from direct accessibility and free parking spaces. Messe Kassel thus clearly positions itself as a transport-friendly location that works well for regional guests as well as for visitors from all over Germany. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/anreise/))

Hall Plan, Capacities, and an Overview of the Rothenbach Hall

A central reason for the high relevance of Messe Kassel in search queries about the hall plan is the size and variety of the site. A total of 13 halls are available, offering around 30,000 m² of exhibition space. The individual areas are designed for very different event sizes and range, according to the official description, from room sizes for about 10 to 15,000 people. This is remarkably flexible for a trade fair facility, as it allows small conferences, medium-sized public formats, and large fairs or sports events to take place at the same location. The fair itself emphasizes that despite the size, it is a site of short distances, which represents a real advantage for visitors, exhibitors, and catering logistics. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/veranstalter/messegelaende/))

The hall structure is clearly organized. Halls 1 and 2 offer a gross area of 5,600 m² and are suitable for medium-sized events. Halls 3 and 4 together encompass 2,800 m², can accommodate up to 3,600 people, and are darkenable, making them particularly interesting for concerts, congresses, meetings, and evening events. There is also a foyer, a banquet hall, a gallery, office spaces, and a universal room; the hall is also equipped for people with disabilities and features LED lighting, warm air heating, and DSL Wi-Fi. Halls 10 and 11 offer 3,120 m² of exhibition space and can be expanded to 5,120 m² with halls 8 and 9. Halls 12 and 13 benefit from skylights and can therefore be used almost without artificial light. These details show that the Messe Kassel hall plan is not just a search term but a real planning tool. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/veranstalter/messegelaende/hallen-3-und-4/?utm_source=openai))

Particularly important is the Rothenbach Hall, which was built in 2007 and is, according to Messe Kassel, the multifunctional hall of the site. It has a total area of 5,700 m², a usable height of 10 meters, and is free of supports and pillars. This column-free construction is a significant advantage for events of all kinds, as sight lines, stage construction, grandstands, and exhibition areas can be planned flexibly. The hall is fully darkenable, has sound acoustic panels on the walls, and ceiling mounting points for loads from 300 kg to 2 tons. In practice, this makes the Rothenbach Hall a place suitable for concerts, sports events, high-profile evening events, and exhibitions with special exhibits. So, if you are looking for Messe Kassel Rothenbach Hall, Messe Kassel concerts 2026, or Messe Kassel capacity, you will find here the strongest multifunctional stage of the site. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/messe-kassel/))

Spring Exhibition, Autumn Exhibition, Flea Market, and the Event Profile of Messe Kassel

Messe Kassel is much more than just a venue for individual dates. The company explicitly describes its portfolio as versatile and ranges from trade and public fairs to congresses and sports events to comedy, concerts, and corporate events. Therefore, it is no coincidence that search queries related to Messe Kassel 2026 frequently mention the spring exhibition, autumn exhibition, and flea market. These formats are firmly associated with the venue and shape the public image of the location. The spring exhibition 2026 runs from February 28 to March 8 and focuses on trends in household, fashion, and home. The autumn exhibition 2026 follows from October 3 to 11 with the same thematic focuses and another special exhibition. Both events show that Messe Kassel appeals not only to professional audiences but also to families, consumers, and leisure visitors. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/messe-kassel/))

Another typical element of the event profile is the flea market. In the official event overview, it appears multiple times in 2026, for example in June, July, August, September, October, and December, usually with visitor hours from 9:00 AM to about 5:00 PM. Additionally, special formats like the girls' flea market and the children's bazaar appear in November, both with visitor hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These recurring dates explain why search terms like Messe Kassel flea market or Messe Kassel dates 2026 are in high demand. For visitors, this is attractive because they not only experience a classic fair but also a wide range of flea market, family, and shopping events. Messe Kassel thus creates a mix of fair operations, meeting place, and leisure destination that can be read very well in the calendar. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/besucher/veranstaltungsuebersicht/))

In addition, sports remain an important component. The event list names for 2026 among other things handball Bundesliga games of MT Melsungen, a European League match, the Mixfight Championship, and World Freestyle as Skateboarding Championship. Additionally, trade fairs like IFBA, ETX, and Parts & Service World are included. This mix of public magnets and industry meetings shows that Messe Kassel possesses both regional broad appeal and international professional relevance. So, if you are looking for Messe Kassel events, Messe Kassel concerts 2026, or Messe Kassel today, you will not find a rigid program at the location, but a very changeable and active annual planning with sports, fairs, and events under one roof. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/besucher/veranstaltungsuebersicht/))

History, Location, and Special Highlights of Messe Kassel

The history of Messe Kassel is closely linked to the growth of the location. According to its own chronicle, it all began in 1962 with the first economically oriented exhibition in the Stadthalle Kassel. In 1966, the first tent halls were built at Auestadion, and the beginning of the housewives' exhibition, from which the current autumn exhibition emerged, followed. In 1980, the first permanent halls 1 and 2 were built on the site at Damaschkestraße 55, followed by halls 3 and 4 in 1986, halls 5 to 7 in 1990, halls 8 to 11 in 1994, and halls 12 to 13 in 1998. In 2002, the entrance hall was created, in 2007 the Rothenbach Hall, in 2014 the new hall 5, and in 2018 new storage halls. This chronicle shows that the location has not grown by chance but has been purposefully developed over decades. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/messe-kassel/))

The location is a clear advantage. Messe Kassel describes itself as located in the center of Germany and points to its good accessibility by car, ICE, and airplane. The immediate motorway connection and the 3,000 free parking spaces make the site attractive for both visitors and organizers. The halls themselves are also designed to cover different sizes and requirements. This allows Messe Kassel to function for large, medium, and small events without having to rethink the location each time. This is one of the reasons why the term Messe Kassel 2026 is so often associated with specific events, hall occupancies, and visitor information. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/veranstalter/messegelaende/))

Particularly interesting is also the economic and organizational identity of the house. Messe Kassel emphasizes that it has been a family-run business since its founding and hosts more than 50 national and international own and guest events annually in its halls and on the outdoor grounds. The portfolio includes trade fairs, public fairs, sports events, comedy, concerts, and corporate events. This mix of tradition and versatility distinguishes Messe Kassel from many purely functional exhibition venues. It is simultaneously a venue, marketplace, meeting point, and stage. For visitors looking for a place with a clear structure and at the same time a changing program, this is a strong profile. ([messe-kassel.de](https://www.messe-kassel.de/messe-kassel/))

Schwanenwiese, Messeplatz, and Why the Search Term Kassel Appears Here So Often

The search term Messe Kassel Schwanenwiese can easily lead to confusion because several venues in Kassel are associated with the term fair. The Schwanenwiese or Messeplatz Schwanenwiese is located at Waldauer Fußweg in Kassel and is used, among other things, for large flea markets. The city of Kassel explicitly lists a large flea market at Schwanenwiese / Messeplatz Kassel, and the site names the place as an independent event location. This is helpful for searchers who do not mean the exhibition grounds at Damaschkestraße 55 but the outdoor location for flea market and outdoor formats. In practice, this explains why some users search for Schwanenwiese opening hours, Schwanenwiese Messeplatz, or Messe Kassel Schwanenwiese, even though they are not the same address. ([visit.kassel.de](https://visit.kassel.de/event/gross-flohmarkt-auf-der-schwanenwiese-/-messeplatz-kassel))

For orientation, the distinction is important: The main address of Messe Kassel remains Damaschkestraße 55 in 34121 Kassel, while the Schwanenwiese is an additional location for certain outdoor and flea market formats. The major house fairs, sports events, and hall events take place at the official exhibition grounds, while the Schwanenwiese plays a role as a separate venue for certain dates. Therefore, those planning tickets, access, or parking should always check whether the event they are looking for actually takes place in the exhibition halls or at the Messeplatz Schwanenwiese. This separation is particularly helpful for search queries related to flea markets, spring festivals, or Messeplatz, as similar terms can easily mix there. ([visit.kassel.de](https://visit.kassel.de/event/gross-flohmarkt-auf-der-schwanenwiese-/-messeplatz-kassel))

In the end, a clear picture emerges: Messe Kassel is a versatile, centrally located, and historically grown venue with very different uses, clear travel advantages, and a strong event calendar for 2026. Those searching for programs, hall plans, parking, exhibitor directories, or special dates like spring exhibition, autumn exhibition, or flea market will find the most reliable information on the official pages. Especially since the opening hours vary by date, checking the respective event is always the best decision. Thus, a simple search query quickly turns into a real visit with planable routes, suitable dates, and a location that has remained a true event brand for Kassel and Northern Hesse.

This is a great exhibition location as the halls are suitable for a variety of options for either big or small exhibitions. Even the outdoor space helps link up the halls. The carparks are located nearby which is very helpful. Kassel is not a great city to travel to but the trains from Frankfurt work well and then I suggest taxis. Could do with a few more options for refreshments at the exhibitions as just the one cafe was not enough and a long way from some halls. Overall a very good place to visit or exhibit.
