When craftsmanship becomes sound: 'Music is in it!' in Kassel
The exhibition 'Music is in it!' at HANDWERKSFORM Kassel opens a view into a world where material, precision, and musical passion come together. Instruments, tools, and artisanal processes from the musical instrument-making trades are showcased – an artistic experience between workshop, sound, and aesthetic perception.
Instrument making as a cultural signature
Whether wood, metal, strings, or sound bodies: Each exhibit tells of its own tradition of production. The exhibition makes visible how instruments arise from artisanal knowledge and sensitive curation that are not only functional but also culturally charged. Visitors experience how form, surface, and resonance come together in a multifaceted consideration of the work.
For seeing, hearing, and trying out
Especially appealing is the interactive approach: Many instruments can not only be viewed but also played and made to sound. This creates an exhibition atmosphere that goes far beyond the classical museum experience. The audience encounters not just objects, but a vibrant dialogue between material, craftsmanship, and timbre.
Insights into regional craftsmanship
The exhibition refers to the diversity of instrument making in the region and makes clear how closely musical culture and artisanal practice are intertwined. Particularly in Kassel, a city with a strong cultural profile, this presentation integrates into a lively museum and exhibition scene. For culture-interested guests, this offers a well-founded exhibition with high educational value and immediate sensory presence.
Conclusion
'Music is in it!' invites you to discover craftsmanship with all your senses. Anyone who wants to understand instruments not just as utility objects but as expressions of culture, technology, and design should definitely visit this exhibition live in Kassel.
